Seattle - While there are many things that experts feel Apple has to do at this year’s Macworld Conference and Expo, most of which is based on speculations. What is known however is that Apple has announced that this is their last appearance at the Macworld Expo. The company feels that Macworld is not a viable marketing strategy anymore and to that end Steve Job’s the CEO will not present the key-note address at the 2009 Expo to launch any new products. This announced has led to different speculations as to what Apple has in its hat for the 2009 Expo.
Steve Job’s is well known as the driving force behind Apples recent successes to the point where the MacWorld Expo has been called The Steve Jobs Show. His absence as the speaker at the Expo which is scheduled to start January 4th in San Francisco has fueled all kinds of rumors about his health, about Apple changing their marketing strategy and that Apple has no major “wow” factor products to release this year. The expo has commonly been the platform the Apple has used to release new products. It could be that Apples stores have been extremely successful in marketing and selling Apple products that the company no longer needs the Expo to succeed or that the Expo has forced Apple into coming up with and releasing new devices every year which can be an unrealistic schedule.
With all that taken into account it is widely felt that Steve Job’s stand-in at the conference Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of worldwide product marketing will not release any major new products. This however has not stopped the techie rumor mill from working. When Phil Schiller makes his speech on Tuesday, according to rumors, he will probably introduce the new Mac mini, an updated iMac, and the iPhone Nano (a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone). Another product rumored to be released is the 17 inche MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Pro is said to be a larger and upgraded version of the 15-inch MacBook Pro and features the advanced technology of the revolutionary NVIDIA chipsets.
Apple fans however feel that the company should continue to reveal “wow” products annually to keep the companies position as a leader in designing innovative and technologically advanced devices. The company profits however speak volumes, even with their high end priced gadgets Apple is still able to stay ahead of the game. Pulling Steve Job’s from the spotlight could be a way of Apple letting consumers know that the company can still be a success without him being the point man which will serve to return confidence to the company and not the man at the helm.
